The fun sport of agility is for any breed of dog aged from 7 months upwards. The journey begins with PRE AGILITY class which is a set of 8 classes to help handlers built on the basic handling and obedience skills needed if they really want to enjoy this sport with their dog. Pre agility is a very busy 8 weeks and includes the following

  • Basic body conditioning exercises
  • Intro to the back up command
  • Basic grid work.

Following the pre-agility class is a 6 week course for

INTRODUCTION TO THE EQUIPMENT.

Each weeks the dogs are safely introduced to each piece of equipment that would be used in a agility course. The basic grid work with the jumps expanded so that students learn to handle jumps from all different entry angles. More work is done on the back up command . More exercises are added so the dogs learn how to target /touch on the yellow equipment zones and more body condition work is introduced for the dogs .

When the following two classes are completed we are ready to move onto the stages of learning handling skills on the equipment. This is where the real fun begins. Your dogs will have more confidence on the equipment, they will have better listening skills , better impulse control so lets put it all together and let the agility journey begin.

Classes are held at the Latimore Lake community center. Latimore lake road, saint John. We do have a indoor facility during the winter months and during the summer we have a large grass area we can use that can be fenced in for the dogs safety. Our second occasional location is at the St martins dog boarding and training kennels. We do hold fun events here where we can put a full sized course together , during the summer months we also add occasional extra classes .
